Education and Outreach
Education, Training and Outreach is a key component of the ICBP and aims at:
- Creating novel strategies for disseminating the concept of cancer systems biology, ultimately inspiring future and junior scientists to pursue its study,
- Overseeing national programs for cancer systems biology education, training and outreach activities
- Promoting the sharing and exchange of ideas and activities among investigators in the twelve ICBP Centers
Crucial to the successful growth of this emerging field is the integration of research approaches from various disciplines. The primary disciplines of this systems approach include biology, computation, statistics, mathematics, and engineering. With its strong network of interdisciplinary groups, the ICBP hopes to not only provide a framework for applying systems biology to cancer research, but a means of sharing that knowledge with the broader scientific community.
Our activities target audiences at various levels including undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, junior investigators, the cancer community at large and the general public.
